Biography

Professor Susanne Albers conducts research in the area of efficient algorithms, specifically focusing on the design and analysis of online approximation algorithms. Her work addresses key fields such as algorithmic game theory and algorithm engineering. After studying mathematics, computer science, and business administration at the University of Osnabrück, she moved to Saarland University and the Max Planck Institute for Informatics as a PhD student, later becoming a senior researcher. In late 1999, she joined the University of Dortmund as an associate professor. From 2001 to 2009, she held a full professorship in the Department of Computer Science at the University of Freiburg, and subsequently served as a full professor at Humboldt University of Berlin, leading a research group focused on algorithms and complexity from 2009 to 2013. Since 2013, Professor Albers has been a faculty member at the Technical University of Munich. She is a member of the Leopoldina, the German National Academy of Sciences, and the Academy of Sciences and Literature Mainz, as well as a fellow of the German Informatics Society (GI).
