Biography

Susanne Ender studied Cultural Studies, Communication and Media Studies, and Computer Science at the University of Leipzig, and Education Science at the University of Zurich. She obtained her doctorate in 2020 at the Chair of Historical Educational Research and System Governance. Her dissertation focused on the interplay between international and Swiss actors in the development of statistical educational indicators and comparative performance assessments. From 2013 to 2023, she worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Educational Evaluation, where she was responsible for various monitoring and evaluation projects and led the development of assessment tasks for the portal 'Mindsteps'. Before that, she worked as a research assistant in the education planning division of the Department of Education of the Canton of Zurich. At the Institute for Educational Science, she coordinates work within the Zurich Learning Progress Assessment and is involved in teaching. Her research interests lie in the historical development and political utilization of performance measurement studies in Switzerland and in international comparisons.
