Susanne Meurer received her PhD from the Warburg Institute at the University of London and has served as a visiting fellow at Harvard University’s Houghton Library. She has experience as a postdoctoral fellow at the Kunsthistorisches Institut (Max-Planck Institute) in Florence and gained insights into the museum archive sector through her work as a curatorial assistant at the Warburg Institute Archive and the Department of Prints and Drawings at the British Museum. Before moving to Perth, she taught at University College London and is currently a senior lecturer in the History of Art at UWA's School of Design, where she teaches Renaissance and Baroque Art, as well as Curatorial Studies. Her research focuses on the interplay between technique and aesthetics in printmaking and examines wider cultural impacts of prints within both local and global contexts. She studies Renaissance and Baroque collections and the lives of artists, as well as the historical canon of art. Her current projects involve deciphering the works of Johann Neudörffer, a significant calligrapher, and how they contribute to the understanding of German art historiography and printmaking.
