Dr. Susanne Murphy

Biography

Susanne Murphy is an Assistant Professor in the School of Rehabilitation Therapy at Queen's University. She has had an extensive academic and professional career focusing on Occupational Therapy. After completing her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy at Queen's University, she pursued a Master of Science in Occupational Science (Post-professional) at Dalhousie University. Since joining Queen's University in 2010, she has played a significant role in teaching within the Occupational Therapy Program. Her teaching emphasizes fieldwork education and includes courses on Group Theory Process, Environmental Determinants of Occupation, Enabling Occupation for Older Adults, Clinical Reasoning, and Community Development. Her research interests are diverse and include health policy, interprofessional education, and collaborative practice. Notably, her recent research projects cover areas such as safety planning for suicide prevention, the impact of post-traumatic stress disorder on children in military-connected families, and the needs of individuals living in the community. Susanne is dedicated to developing innovative evaluation tools for fieldwork in Canada and supervising graduate students in their research endeavors.
