Associate Professor Susanne Roehr is affiliated with the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA) at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney. She joins CHeBA in early 2025 after serving as an Associate Professor of Psychology at Massey University in Auckland, where she co-led the New Zealand Body, Mind Ageing Study. Prior to moving to New Zealand, she led a research group focused on the Epidemiology of Population Brain Health at the University of Leipzig. Susanne's research targets modifiable risk and protective factors for brain health throughout the lifespan, with a particular emphasis on social determinants of dementia and the intersection of climate change and planetary health. She has led multiple large-scale studies and actively collaborates with international consortia such as COSMIC and WWFINGERS. Recognized with various awards for her work, she is also a Global Atlantic Fellow for Equity in Brain Health at the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI). Her research employs both quantitative and qualitative methodologies and aims at bridging research, policy, and community engagement using innovative approaches.
