Biography

Susanne Sreedhar is a Professor of Philosophy at Boston University and serves as the Director of the Women's, Gender, Sexuality Studies Program. She received her Ph.D. in Philosophy in 2005 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and holds a graduate degree in Women's Studies from Duke University. Prior to her position at Boston University, she was an Assistant Professor in Philosophy and Women's Studies at Tulane University in New Orleans. Her research primarily focuses on early modern political thought, exemplified by her book, 'Hobbes Resistance: Defying Leviathan,' published by Cambridge University Press in 2010. She is currently working on a new book tentatively titled 'Hobbes Sex, Contract,' to be published by Oxford University Press. In her teaching, she covers a range of topics including ethics, political philosophy, law and history of philosophy, and the philosophy of gender and sexuality.
