Dr. Sushmita Roy

Biography

Sushmita Roy is a Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, affiliated with the UW Comprehensive Diabetes Center. Her research focuses on gene regulation and gene regulatory networks, specifically the development and application of machine learning methods to integrate high-throughput -omic datasets. She aims to gain insights into the regulation and misregulation of gene expression underlying various biological processes and diseases, including cancer and diabetes. As an Associate Research Member of the Wisconsin Diabetes Research Center, she is particularly interested in studying transcriptional networks related to diabetes. Her work has broad implications, as the tools she develops are applicable to understanding normal developmental processes as well as host-symbiont interactions and disease mechanisms.
