Dr. Susmita Naskar

Biography

Susmita Naskar is a Lecturer at the University of Southampton in the Faculty of Engineering & Physical Sciences. Her research interests predominantly lie in mechanics and metamaterials, including deployable and reconfigurable structures, as well as uncertainty quantification. She completed her postdoctoral research at the Whiting School of Engineering at Johns Hopkins University, collaborating with the Army Research Lab in the USA. Naskar also holds a doctoral degree from the University of Aberdeen and has been a visiting doctoral student at the University of Oxford. Her expertise encompasses multi-scale structural mechanics, multi-physics analysis, engineered materials, advanced composites, and additive manufacturing techniques. Dr. Naskar actively invites applications from highly motivated undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral candidates interested in interdisciplinary research in advanced manufacturing and material characterization. She is also focused on integrating machine learning algorithms with composite material design and has led several significant research projects on deep learning and structural health monitoring.
