Suyang Xu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University. He has a diverse academic background that began with a bachelor's degree from Peking University in China. Following his undergraduate studies, Xu joined Professor Zahid Hasan's group at Princeton University, where he became skilled in Angle-Resolved Photoemission Spectroscopy (ARPES), a powerful tool for visualizing electronic band structures in materials. In 2016, he joined Professor Nuh Gedik's group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a postdoctoral researcher, where he worked closely with Professor Pablo Jarillo-Herrero, mastering optical and terahertz spectroscopy as well as electronic and optoelectronic transport in two-dimensional materials. His recent research has focused on the nonlinear electronic responses of topological materials, emphasizing the electronic and optical properties of quantum matters and emergent quantum phenomena. At Harvard, Xu leads the TopoXu Lab, which utilizes advanced tools and facilities to investigate quantum crystals, while fostering interdisciplinary collaborations to address fundamental scientific challenges in clean energy and quantum computing.
