Biography

Suzana Berger is a theatre artist, educator, and community partnership builder dedicated to vivid physical performance and creating new work that explores social issues imaginatively. Her work engages audiences of all ages, using stories to connect with communities previously thought disconnected. As a co-founder and Artistic Director of Dragon's Eye Theatre, she partners with Philadelphia community spaces to create original, interactive plays inspired by the venues they are performed in. Suzana serves as the Director of Arts, Culture, and Humanities Partnerships at the University-Assisted Community Schools, as well as at Penn's Netter Center for Community Partnerships. Her teaching focuses on the works of August Wilson and includes multiple courses related to his dramatic contributions. She emphasizes the relevance of African American ethnic literatures, African American studies, and drama in her classes, striving to bridge the gap between academic inquiry and community engagement.
