Biography

Institute Professor Suzanne Berger's research focuses on globalization in politics and the transformation of manufacturing. She co-directs the Initiative on New Manufacturing, which brings together engineers, social scientists, and economists to work on innovative production techniques. Berger also led the MIT Production Innovation Economy project, which published 'Making America: Innovation Market' in 2013. Additionally, she created the MIT International Science and Technology Initiative (MISTI) program, which enables hundreds of MIT students to partake in internships abroad. Beyond her projects, Berger has published works on political development and the organization of interests in industrial societies. Throughout her career, she has served as the Head of the MIT Department of Political Science and has taken significant roles in academic associations such as the American Political Science Association. Her accolades include election to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and honors from the French government.
