Biography

Suzanne Bonn joined the Department of Education at Concordia University in August 2015. She received her PhD in Applied Linguistics from Aston University, UK. Her dissertation, entitled 'Teacher Use of Personal Narrative in the Japanese University English Language Classroom,' analyzed the meaning of personal experience stories told by university teachers and their effects on student learning. With over 12 years of experience teaching English as a Foreign Language, she has worked at various universities in Nagoya, Japan. Dr. Bonn has presented her research across Canada, the UK, Australia, and Japan. She has served as programme chair for several language teaching and learning conferences in Japan and acts as a conference proposal reader for organizations such as JALT and TESOL. Her research interests include narrative analysis, research methods, conversation analysis, and alternative assessments.
