Suzanne Cook graduated with a Master's degree from the Department of Linguistics at the University of Victoria in 2000. She has since focused on language documentation, particularly concerning the Lacandon and Maya languages in Chiapas, Mexico, through a grant from the Volkswagen Foundation.
