Biography

Suzanne L Dickson is a neurobiologist and Professor of Neuroendocrinology at the University of Gothenburg. She graduated with a B.Sc. (Honours) in Pharmacology from the University of Edinburgh and obtained her Ph.D. in Neuroendocrinology from the University of Cambridge in 1993. She has become a leading figure in neuroendocrinology and is involved with various European Union international organizations that promote research and facilitate grant funding for early career scientists. Her research focuses primarily on neurobiology of appetite, aiming to unravel the neurobiological pathways that respond to orexigenic signals and hormones such as ghrelin, and how these influence feeding behaviors, food intake, food choice, food anticipation, and food motivation. Dickson has held multiple leadership roles in scientific boards and committees, including being the President of the European Brain Council and Secretary of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology. Her editorial involvements include Deputy Editor-in-Chief roles for several prominent journals related to neuroscience and neuroendocrinology. Dickson’s work significantly contributes to understanding eating behaviors and the neurochemical mechanisms involved in the regulation of appetite and body weight.
