Biography

Dr. Suzanne F. Jackson is an Associate Professor Emerita at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto. She has a Ph.D. and has significant contributions to the field of global health promotion. Dr. Jackson has worked in various roles focused on community resilience, disaster response, and health promotion planning and evaluation. Her research interests span a range of methodologies including participatory action research and economic evaluation in health promotion. Over her career, she has been co-director of a collaborating center for health promotion and served as Editor-in-Chief of the journal Global Health Promotion from 2010 to 2019. Dr. Jackson has received numerous accolades, including life membership from the Ontario Public Health Association and the John Hastings Award for excellence in service to university communities. She has been involved in projects addressing cancer screening and mental health promotion, contributing to policy development and community engagement projects aimed at improving health outcomes. In addition to her roles in Canada, she has served as a visiting professor at the University of Brighton, UK. For her work and mentorship, she is respected within the public health community.
