Dr. Suzanne Lundvall

Biography

Suzanne Lundvall is a distinguished Professor at the University of Gothenburg specializing in Sports Science, particularly in physical education and health. She has been with the university since January 2020, focusing on research that explores the sustainability perspective in physical education. Suzanne completed her teacher training in 1992 and defended her dissertation in 2003 at Stockholm University, where she analyzed movement traditions in physical education teacher education through a cultural-historical and gender lens. Over the years, she has held various roles such as teacher educator and researcher, and she has managed departmental administration while contributing as a project leader for the multidisciplinary School-Sports-Health project since 2001. Her research interests are wide-ranging, including learning processes, movement competence, and physical literacy, often viewed through a socio-cultural and critical lens that considers intersectional factors such as gender and ethnicity. Additionally, she represents Sweden in the Fédération Internationale d'Éducation Physique and is actively involved in international committees that advocate for quality physical education.
