Suzanne Shier is Counsel in a firm's Trusts & Estates Group, experienced in advising high net worth individuals and families on wealth, tax, and business philanthropic planning. She focuses on positioning clients to utilize their assets to achieve their desired impact and advises them on using resources to fulfill the aspirations of families, businesses, and communities. Suzanne's clients include executives, entrepreneurs, professionals, family wealth owners, corporate fiduciaries, and charities both domestic and international. With decades of experience in private practice at a leading global wealth management firm, Suzanne is a frequent speaker and has been quoted in media outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, New York Penta, and Barron's. She is the recipient of the Chicago Estate Planning Council Austin Fleming Distinguished Service Award and is a fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel, where she serves as the incoming chair of the International Planning Committee. Additionally, she is an Academician of the International Academy of Estate Trust Law. At Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, she serves as an adjunct professor in the LLM in Taxation Program and mentors law students in leveraging their talents to serve clients and the community. Outside of her professional commitments, Suzanne is active in civic engagements and philanthropic boards, focusing on access to educational excellence at various levels. Her greatest joy is her family, which includes her husband, daughters, sons-in-law, and their golden retriever. She enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking, swimming, skiing, and snowshoeing.
