Biography

Sven Koenig is an Adjunct Research Professor in the Thomas Lord Department of Computer Science at the University of Southern California. He received his Doctorate in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University in 1997. His research interests focus on intelligent systems that operate in large, nondeterministic, and nonstationary partially known domains. This includes decision making, planning, and learning techniques that enable single agents and multi-agent teams to act intelligently in real-time environments with incomplete knowledge and imperfect abilities. Koenig has published over 280 papers in areas including artificial intelligence and robotics, and has served as editor and program co-chair for several major conferences. He is a Fellow of the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence, Association for Computing Machinery, and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers. His applications of research cover logistics, video games, and various aspects of robotics.
