Sven Modell received his PhD in Business Administration from Lund University, Sweden in 1998. Before joining Alliance Manchester Business School in 2007, he held the Chair in Accounting at Stockholm University School of Business, Sweden. He has held visiting professorships at the Norwegian School of Economics, Turku School of Economics, and has been a visiting professor at the University of Technology Sydney and the University of Sydney, Australia, as well as an Erskine Fellow at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. Professor Modell currently serves as an Associate Editor for Accounting Business Research and is part of the editorial boards of several leading accounting journals. His research interests include institutional and political aspects of accounting, governance, and control in organizations, as well as qualitative research methodologies. He has received several prestigious research awards for his contributions to the field, and in 2025 he will be inducted into the AAAJ/APIRA Hall of Fame due to his contributions to the global interdisciplinary accounting research community.
