Biography

Sverker Molander develops and applies systems approaches to research on human-induced environmental change mitigation. He is particularly involved in studies related to the risks of chemicals and material flows, as well as energy systems based on renewable sources. His work includes applying systems methods to assess ecological and environmental risks from a substance and material flows perspective, emphasizing product chains and life-cycle considerations. Identification of indicators and systems for measuring environmental sustainability is a recurrent theme in his research. Currently, his research includes interdisciplinary collaboration with social scientists on risks and control mechanisms, covering the structures and functions at the interface of society, technology, and ecosystems. Sverker Molander also serves as the coordinator for a sub-program of SIDA's bilateral support to Universidade Eduardo Mondlane in Mozambique, and he is a member of SETAC's Global Science Committee. Additionally, he is part of the research delegation for the Baltic Sea Foundation and acts as a scientific reviewer for the Kamprad Family Foundation.
