Biography

Svetla Marinova is a Professor of International Business Marketing at Aalborg University, Denmark. Her research interests, spanning from the 1990s to the present day, extensively cover transitional economies, particularly focusing on post-transition development in Central and Eastern Europe. She has a special interest in business restructuring, transformation, and the role of foreign direct investment in fostering new business models and encouraging firm international competitiveness. Marinova's research explores the internationalization of firms from emerging economies, considering the dynamics of embeddedness and the interplay of institutional and business entrepreneurship factors that promote outward foreign direct investments. She advocates for a re-assessment of value creation in the context of internationalization as a multidimensional construct encompassing economic, psychological, and sociological dimensions. Over her career, Marinova has authored more than 110 journal articles and 10 books on topics including international business, emerging markets, and value creation. Her recent publication, "COVID-19 International Business: Era of Change", examines the implications of the current international business landscape and emphasizes the need for greater integration of research and education to strengthen competitive positions in Europe post-pandemic.
