Professor Dr. Svetlana Khapova

Biography

Svetlana Khapova is a Full Professor at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, specializing in Organizational Behaviour and Leadership at the School of Business and Economics. With a notable interdisciplinary career, she initially focused on career success and star performance, but her research now emphasizes strategic leadership, executive career paths, cognitive biases in decision-making, and board dynamics. She has authored over 100 refereed papers and a book titled 'An Intelligent Career: Taking Ownership of Work and Life' published by Oxford University Press in 2017. Svetlana is actively involved in various academic communities, including the Academy of Management and the European Group on Organizational Studies. She has held significant positions, such as Director of Doctoral Education and founding Director of the Amsterdam Business Research Institute, and has received multiple awards for her leadership and service within the Academy of Management. Svetlana is devoted to teaching and engages with students through interactive seminars on a range of topics including strategic leadership, diversity, and well-being in the workplace. She also contributes to industry training and supports executive education programs, enhancing management practices worldwide.
