Biography

Svetlana graduated from Belarusian State Medical University as a dentist in 1998 and completed a three-year clinical residency training in Operative Dentistry from 1998 to 2001. She earned a Master's degree in Dental Sciences from 2001 to 2003 and a Doctorate degree in Dental Sciences at McGill University, Faculty of Dentistry from 2008 to 2013. Her doctoral dissertation was titled 'A Comparison of Dentists’ Treatment Choices for Dental Caries Lesions Diagnosed by Visual-Tactile Systems and Nyvad ICDAS.' Svetlana completed post-doctoral training at Université de Montréal from 2013 to 2016 in the field of Oral Health Research. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor at McGill University, responsible for Evidence-Based Dentistry in the three-year undergraduate curriculum, ensuring that dental students graduate with a foundational understanding of research and evidence-based practice. She provides Cariology lectures and hands-on laboratories for undergraduate dental students, focusing on implementing a non-operative caries management approach in dental education. A recent initiative includes reaching a consensus on the Core Cariology Curriculum for Canadian dental schools and publishing a formal consensus document. Her current research interests are related to the implementation of evidence-based caries management approaches in dental education and control of Early Childhood Caries.
