Biography

Svetlana Yanushkevich directs the Biometric Technologies Laboratory at the Schulich School of Engineering, University of Calgary. Her team is engaged in the development of novel decision support risk assessment strategies based on machine reasoning, with applications in biometric-enabled access control, healthcare monitoring systems for gait abnormalities detection, action/activity recognition, and face attribute analysis. Yanushkevich has chaired the Biometric Taskforce of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society from 2017 to 2020 and currently serves as vice-chair of the Task Force, as well as being a member of the Intelligent Systems Applications Technical Committee.
