Dr. Swapnil Hiremath

Biography

Swapnil Hiremath, MD, MPH, FASN, is a Staff Nephrologist at the Ottawa Hospital and a Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. He also serves as an Associate Scientist in the Clinical Epidemiology Programme at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute. Dr. Hiremath's medical education began at the University of Mumbai and continued at the University of Ottawa, where he completed his Masters in Public Health at the Harvard School of Public Health. He has certification from the American Heart Association as a Specialist in Clinical Hypertension. His primary research interests focus on leveraging systematic reviews, meta-analyses, and decision-analytic modeling to enhance patient care in hypertension, chronic kidney disease, hemodialysis, and acute kidney injury. He has secured grant funding from various agencies including CIHR and PSI, and has authored over 100 papers, details of which can be found on his Google Scholar profile. His professional contributions include co-creating the Twitter-based nephrology journal club, NephJC, and being a panelist on the Freely Filtered podcast.
