Swarna Vishwanath is a Research Fellow in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine at Monash University, Australia. Her doctoral research examined the heart-brain connection, revealing how cognitive function is affected across the stages of the cardiovascular disease continuum. Her findings have led to high-impact publications, including a paper in Alzheimer’s & Dementia, which was ranked among the top 10% most-read articles in 2023, garnering media attention. Currently, her research continues to explore the relationship between cardiovascular and cognitive health, emphasizing translation and co-design with clinicians, data scientists, and consumer groups. She is also interested in expanding her work to address multimorbidity, chronic disease prevention, and resilience in aging populations. In addition to her research, Swarna supervises Honours and Master’s students, tutors statistical methods in the Bachelor of Biomedical Science program, and serves on faculty committees to support early- and mid-career researchers. She frequently presents at national and international conferences and contributes to expert panels on aging, chronic disease, and research methodology.
