Dr. Swati Kannan

Biography

Swati Kannan, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist fellowship-trained in Mohs surgery and cosmetic dermatology. She specializes in skin cancer and reconstructive surgery, aesthetic treatments, injectables, laser procedures, and hair restoration techniques. Dr. Kannan prioritizes optimizing surgical and aesthetic outcomes by integrating the highest standards of beauty with evidence-based science, customizing treatment plans to address individual skin concerns. As an assistant professor of dermatology at UC San Diego School of Medicine, she plays a significant role in training medical students and residents. Prior to her current position, Dr. Kannan served as a surgeon at Kaiser Permanente and was an associate professor at UCLA, where she established a clinic for melanoma patients. She completed her Mohs micrographic surgery and cosmetic dermatology fellowship at UC San Diego, her dermatology residency at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, and earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. She is a fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery and the American Academy of Dermatology, and a member of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery and American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery.
