Dr. Swati Parashar

Biography

Swati Parashar is a Professor of Peace Development Studies at the School of Global Studies, University of Gothenburg. With academic roots in Politics and International Relations, she holds a PhD from Lancaster University and has previously held positions at Monash University, the University of Wollongong, and the University of Limerick. She has contributed extensively to the fields of feminist postcolonial international relations and has engaged in research on topics such as hunger, sexual violence, and women’s roles in peace and development, particularly in South Asia and East Africa. Beyond her academic appointments, Parashar has been actively involved in editorial roles and collaborative research initiatives, reflecting a commitment to produce equitable knowledge in insecure zones. Her public engagements include writing articles in various media outlets and running her own blog where she discusses women’s experiences and emphasizes the importance of solidarity across borders. Parashar also fosters an enthusiasm for cultural elements such as Hindustani classical music and vintage Bollywood, offering a rich tapestry of personal interests alongside her professional endeavors.
