Dr. Sy Bor Wen

Biography

Sy-Bor Wen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, Berkeley in 2006, and holds both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from National Taiwan University. His primary research interests encompass laser processing, particularly ultrahigh speed pulsed laser applications, chemical analysis using laser-induced plasma, and the generation of nanomaterials through laser ablation. Additionally, he investigates nanoscale energy and mass transport phenomena and near field effects related to laser technology. With a career that highlights a strong commitment to education and research, Professor Wen is recognized for his contributions to the field of mechanical engineering, and in 2024, he was honored as a Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
