Dr. Sybille Krämer

Biography

Sybille Krämer is a distinguished philosopher recognized for her contributions to language philosophy and media philosophy. Born in Trier and educated at the universities of Hamburg and Marburg, she earned her doctorate in 1980 and habilitated in 1988 at Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf. Since 1989, Krämer has been a professor at the Institute of Philosophy at Freie Universität Berlin, where she has influenced the study and understanding of theoretical philosophy. In her academic career, she has held significant positions including fellowships at Balliol College, Oxford, and the International Research Institute for Cultural Studies in Vienna. She has also participated in various interdisciplinary research projects, including leading roles in DFG research groups. Notably, she has been involved with the European Research Council and served in the Senate of the German Research Foundation. Recognized for her scholarly output, Krämer's work often explores the intersections of philosophy, technology, and culture, contributing to the understanding of the performative cultures since 1999.
