Dr. Syed Billah

Biography

Syed Billah is an Assistant Professor at the College of Information Science and Technology at Pennsylvania State University. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Stony Brook University, and has a Master’s and Bachelor’s degrees in Computer Science from the University of Arkansas and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, respectively. Syed's expertise lies in creating intelligent interactive systems, focusing on understanding users’ needs and leveraging technology to cater to their abilities and preferences. His research encompasses developing novel input devices and multimodal interfaces that serve individuals who are blind, have low vision, or experience motor and speech impairments. Syed emphasizes universal design principles in his innovations, ensuring that his solutions are not only effective for targeted users but also reach a broader population. His areas of expertise include Human-Computer Interaction, Accessible Computing, Assistive Technology, and Human Augmentation.
