Biography

Syed Waqar Haider has 28 years of diverse professional, teaching, and research experience in state-of-the-art methods and practical applications within pavements materials engineering. His expertise encompasses mechanistic-empirical pavement analysis, design performance models, performance-related specifications, pavement preservation treatments, and statistical data analysis related to long-term pavement performance. He has also worked on guidelines for pavement recycling and the characterization of reclaimed asphalt pavement, alongside evaluating asset management systems. Haider has led sponsored research studies at various levels, including international, national, and state. His sponsoring agencies include the U.S. Department of Transportation, National Academy of Sciences, National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP), and the Federal Highway Administration. He has authored and co-authored over 150 technical publications, which include 42 peer-reviewed journal papers and more than 90 peer-reviewed conference proceedings presentations. He is actively engaged with NCHRP, the National Science Foundation, the Transportation Research Board, and the American Society of Civil Engineers, particularly in the International Journal of Pavement Engineering. He is also a registered professional engineer in the state of Michigan.
