Biography

Sylvana Côté is a psychologist and a full professor at the School of Public Health at the University of Montreal, where she also conducts research at CHU Ste-Justine. She leads the Research Group on Psychosocial Maladjustment in Children (GRIP), which is a multidisciplinary center funded by the FRQ-SC, bringing together researchers from seven Quebec universities. Côté is also the director of the Observatory for Children's Education and Health (OPES) and co-directs the network of perinatal determinants of child health. Her research focuses on developmental psychopathology and the epidemiology of mental health across the lifespan, particularly on the intergenerational transmission of risk factors for mental health problems. Additionally, Côté studies the effectiveness of perinatal and preschool services in preventing these issues, working with longitudinal and experimental data to examine the socio-familial context that influences individual life trajectories. She has contributed to over 200 publications in scientific journals, boasting an H-index of 54, and has received numerous national and international awards for her work, including the title of Senior Researcher from the Quebec Health Research Fund. Furthermore, she has been recognized for her contributions to public health research, receiving distinctions that highlight her impact in the field of mental health and early childhood education.
