My research work initially focused on migration phenomena and 'living together,' subsequently probing into social, cultural, ethnic, and religious diversity, and the realization of this pluralism within the clinical hospital context in Canada and beyond. I am also interested in the knowledge, norms, and values that traverse care environments. The moral issues and normative implications in therapeutic decision-making have become central, particularly concerning decisions transitioning from a curative to a palliative perspective across different life stages, from neonatology to geriatrics, for both clinicians and patients and their families. These diverse works have converged on contemporary dying and the concept of a 'good death' within a societal framework where 'dying with dignity' raises many debates. My publications address contemporary death, the clinical sphere as a site for negotiations, perinatality, local and transnational knowledge, ethics, and decision-making (or ethics in action), neglect of death in high-level care contexts, and finally immigration, minorities, and health.
