Biography

Symon Podilchak is a Senior Lecturer in Radio Frequency at the University of Edinburgh's School of Engineering. He obtained his B.A.Sc. degree in Engineering Science from the University of Toronto, Canada in 2005, followed by M.A.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Queen’s University, Kingston, Canada in 2008 and 2013, respectively. He has held various academic positions, including Assistant Professor at Queen’s University and Heriot-Watt University, where he became Associate Professor in 2017. Dr. Podilchak's research is recognized internationally, with support from grants such as the H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship. His industrial experience includes designing automotive radar systems and high-frequency surface wave radar systems. His research interests encompass surface waves, leaky-wave antennas, metasurfaces, phased arrays, and CMOS integrated circuits. He has received multiple awards for his contributions to the field, including the Outstanding Dissertation Award from Queen’s University and the IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society Research Fellowship, among others. He serves as an Associate Editor for the IET Electronic Letters and has been recognized as an Outstanding Reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation.
