Biography

Dr. Kim is a respected researcher in dental pulp physiology and microcirculation, leading the Pulp Biology Laboratory. Before joining the University of Pennsylvania in 1992, he was a faculty member at Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. At Penn, he became the chairman of the Department of Endodontics, pioneering the incorporation of microscope endodontics and establishing the Microscope Training Center, which has trained over 1,000 leaders in endodontic education and clinical practice across multiple continents. He has transformed traditional endodontic surgery into modern microsurgery with the development of microinstruments and authored the textbook "Color Atlas of Microsurgery in Endodontics," published in 2000. He has delivered numerous presentations at universities and conferences worldwide and has published over seventy articles in peer-reviewed journals. His current research focuses on evaluating dental materials using stem-cell lines.
