Dr. Taehwan Kim

Biography

Taehwan Kim is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), a position he has held since June 2016. He received his Bachelor and Master degrees in Civil Environmental Engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), South Korea, before earning his PhD in Civil Engineering from Purdue University, USA. His research focuses on advanced sustainable infrastructure materials, thermodynamics of cementitious materials, and modeling chemical processes related to these materials. He has been involved in various interdisciplinary research projects aimed at improving understanding of chemical reactions in cementitious materials and enhancing the development of low carbon footprint construction materials. His courses include Concrete Structures and Advanced Materials Technology, where he guides students on research related to materials science and civil engineering. He fosters collaboration among researchers both within and outside the Civil and Environmental Engineering department, further contributing to innovation in the industry.
