I am an Assistant Professor in Cyber-Entrepreneurship within the Department of Management at the Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics. My research focuses on challenges and strategies inherent in new venture creation and internet-based startups, examined through lenses of gender, performance, and technological adoption. I investigate how integrating emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence can enhance the performance and productivity of startup companies, with a particular focus on addressing inequities. My work explores social innovations by enterprises aimed at improving livelihoods, with a special emphasis on gender lens impact investing, North American entrepreneurship, and women's economic empowerment initiatives. I view social innovations as pivotal mechanisms to tackle intersectional injustices, all while aiming to contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). My research underscores the critical role of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI) and equality in driving survival and performance in new ventures. By highlighting how EDI principles influence entrepreneurial success, I seek to promote strategies that foster inclusive growth within the sustainable development startup ecosystem.
