Dr. Tahir Rashid

Biography

Tahir Rashid is a Guest Teacher at the European Institute of the London School of Economics and Political Science. His research focuses on the changing interpretation and understanding of the concept of evil within the European intellectual space, especially in relation to the increasing identification of secular and post-Christian paradigms. This exploration raises fundamental intellectual and practical questions about European self-understanding, particularly in light of the so-called loss of religion in Christianity. Tahir has completed his MA in Religion and Global Politics and an MA in Islamic Studies from the Universities of London and Birmingham, respectively. His interests lie in fostering discussions about the interplay between European intellectual history and classical as well as modern trends in Islamic thought. He holds expertise in Religion Secularism, Political Religion, Violence in Religious Traditions, Modern Philosophy, and the works of thinkers like Immanuel Kant and Hannah Arendt, along with a focus on Contemporary Islam and Muslims in Europe.
