Dr. Tala Aabø

Biography

Tala Maria Aabø is an Assistant Professor at the University of Copenhagen, specializing in geoscience with a focus on the influence of fractures on fluid flow in chalk formations. Her research includes innovative data integration techniques using digital outcrop models, ground penetrating radar, and shallow seismic for fracture characterization studies in both offshore and onshore contexts. Aabø actively teaches the MSc course NIGK21002U, emphasizing practical applications of geoscientific methodologies. Her doctoral research, conducted at the University of Copenhagen, contributed significantly to understanding fracture dynamics and their implications in sedimentary basins, particularly in the Norwegian North Sea. In addition to her teaching and research, Aabø is committed to public speaking and developing educational materials to enhance student engagement in earth sciences. She has also held a research assistant position at the Technical University of Denmark, where she further honed her skills in data visualization and seismic interpretation. Aabø continues to work on various projects exploring empirical equations to determine formation temperatures based on well-log data and thermal gradients.
