Biography

Talat S. Genc is a Professor in the Department of Economics and Finance at the University of Guelph. He specializes in Industrial Organization, Energy, and Environmental Economics. He received his BSc and MA degrees from Bogazici University, Turkey, in 1997 and 1999 respectively, and further obtained an MA in Economics and an MSc in Industrial Engineering from the University of Arizona in 2003. He completed his PhD in Economics from the University of Arizona and joined the University of Guelph in 2004. Professor Genc has extensive experience in Industrial Economics and has authored or co-authored approximately 25 published works covering topics such as Energy Markets and Dynamic Games. His research has been published in several prominent journals including the Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, and Energy Economics, among others. His current research interests encompass understanding restructuring issues in electricity markets, especially those affecting Canadian electricity markets, with a focus on cross-border trade, pricing, investment, and environmental conservation. In addition to his academic work, Genc has held visiting positions at institutions including Tilburg University and ESSEC Business School, contributing to his broad expertise in the field of economics and energy markets.
