Dr. Talid Sinno

Biography

Talid Sinno is a Professor in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania. He received a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and a B.A. in Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania, followed by a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1998. He has been a member of the standing faculty at Penn since 1999, with a secondary appointment in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics. Additionally, Sinno is involved in the Graduate Groups in Materials Science and Engineering and Physics and Astronomy. He serves as the Founding Director of the master’s degree program in Scientific Computing, which focuses on integrating modern scientific computing, artificial intelligence, and data science into coursework and research training. His research interests lie in computational materials science, focusing on multiscale modeling and simulation of nucleation, aggregation, and crystallization processes across a wide range of material systems. Sinno's work has published extensively in areas such as semiconductor microstructure evolution, crystal growth, self-assembly of colloidal crystals, and platelet cell aggregation in blood flow. He employs a variety of computational techniques, including molecular dynamics and Monte Carlo methods, to study these phenomena.
