Biography

Talin Hitik is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Chicago Law School, where he specializes in private international law and transnational litigation, with a significant focus on the implementation of the Hague Conventions. His scholarly work revolves around private and public international law, with a particular emphasis on international human rights law. Talin leads pro bono human rights efforts at Hitik Law, LLC, where he advises governments and NGOs on human rights accountability, war crimes, and investment arbitration matters. He founded the Armenia Center for Dispute Resolution, an NGO aimed at enhancing the capacity for alternative dispute resolution and justice reform. Talin is dedicated to representing victim groups and has advocated for the rights of displaced indigenous Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh before United Nations human rights bodies and Congress. He previously served as a legal officer with the Hague Conference on Private International Law and at the Permanent Court of Arbitration in The Hague. Moreover, he has held academic positions in public international law at American University of Armenia, Yerevan State University, and the University of Michigan Law School. Talin also completed a clerkship with Hon. Samuel Der-Yeghiayan in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
