Biography

Talitha Bromwich is an interdisciplinary scientist working on global systems that affect biodiversity and the environment. Her research focuses on data-driven, quantitative approaches that support systemic change and contribute to major research programmes. She is involved in the THRIVING Food Futures initiative, which seeks to identify viable interventions to achieve net-zero goals through the development of analytical methods that facilitate research on sustainable food system transformations. Her work with the Leverhulme Centre for Nature Recovery explores tools to track global progress towards conservation goals and prioritise national actions to maximise the impact of nature recovery at multiple scales. Talitha's background spans biodiversity conservation, physics, and bioinformatics, and her past projects include rewilding and nature-based solutions with Rewilding Britain, as well as biodiversity monitoring and habitat mapping using remote sensing technologies for the Wildlife Trust. Her collaborations with business and finance partners focus on measuring and reducing organisational impacts on nature to support a shift towards a nature-positive future. Prior to joining the Smith School, Talitha held positions as a researcher at the Oxford Department of Biology’s Nature Positive Hub and as a research lead at Wild Business. Her academic qualifications include a PhD in Physics from the University of Oxford, an MSc in Global Biodiversity Conservation from the University of Sussex, and a research fellowship in human population genetics at the University of Edinburgh.
