Biography

Tamal Dey's primary research area is Computational Geometry, focusing on topology applications such as topological data analysis, geometric modeling, computer graphics, and mesh generation. He has authored and co-authored several books, including 'Curve Surface Reconstruction: Algorithms Mathematical Analysis' published by Cambridge University Press and 'Delaunay Mesh Generation' published by CRC Press. Dey has also co-authored the book 'Computational Topology Data Analysis', released in 2022. With a prolific publication record of more than 200 scientific articles, he is recognized as a Fellow of the IEEE and ACM and has been inducted as a Fellow of the Solid Modeling Association. He serves on editorial executive boards and regularly gives invited lectures at academic forums. Before joining Purdue University in the fall of 2020, Dey was a faculty member in the Computer Science & Engineering Department at the Ohio State University from 1999 to 2020, where he led the Jyamiti research group focusing on geometric and topological data analysis. Dey also held the position of interim Chair of the department at OSU during 2019-2020.
