Biography

Tamar Meshel is an Associate Professor at the University of Alberta's Faculty of Law, specializing in arbitration law and international commercial arbitration. With a background in law from prestigious institutions, including a J.D. from the University of British Columbia and an LL.M. and SJD from the University of Toronto, Professor Meshel has extensive experience in both academia and practice. She has served as Deputy Counsel at the International Court of Arbitration for the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris and as a Research Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Procedural Law in Luxembourg. As a legal advisor, she has worked with the Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise and has held a position as Scholar-in-Residence at WilmerHale's International Arbitration Group in London. An accomplished scholar, she has authored 50 publications, including amicus briefs for the United States Supreme Court, and received funding for research from SSHRC Insight Development Grant. Her forthcoming monograph, "Arbitration Law: Statutes, Cases, Commentary," is set to be published by LexisNexis in 2025.
