Biography

Tamara Atkin is a tutorial fellow at Queen's College, University of Oxford, specializing in Medieval and Early Modern Literature and Book History. Her scholarly work explores the interplay between material conditions and literary production and reception, with a focus on the history of drama in Tudor England. Atkin has authored several significant publications, including 'Reading Drama in Tudor England' and co-edited collections such as 'Early English Drama Manuscript'. She is currently engaged in a Leverhulme-funded research project examining the reuse and recycling of books in early modern England, investigating how bibliographic and literary concepts of waste and reuse were articulated in cultural contexts. Her research has led to new discoveries in manuscript fragments and collaborations with leading universities across the UK. Atkin teaches English literature topics from 1350 to 1660, with particular emphasis on premodern drama and book history, while also supervising graduate students in various areas of fifteenth and sixteenth-century studies. In addition to her research and teaching, she holds honorary positions at the University of Bristol and Queen Mary University of London, with a focus on advancing understanding of early modern book trade practices.
