Biography

Tamara Bogdanović is a Professor in the School of Physics at the Georgia Institute of Technology. She specializes in astrophysics, focusing primarily on massive black holes and their accretion processes. Her research group investigates the physical mechanisms that arise from accretion flows around supermassive black holes, employing luminous tracers to study these otherwise dark objects. The scenarios studied include the accretion of gas onto single and binary supermassive black holes, as well as the dynamics of stars that are disrupted by black hole tides in galactic nuclei. Bogdanović's work aims to predict the signatures of interactions within these systems, which are then sought after in observational data to provide interpretations of puzzling astrophysical events observed in the sky. Her research interests include Black Hole Astrophysics, Accretion Physics, the Intracluster Medium, and Computational Astrophysics.
