Dr. Tamara Krawchenko

Biography

Tamara Krawchenko is an Associate Professor in Public Administration at the University of Victoria (UVic). She is an internationally recognized scholar and policy expert with deep expertise in comparative public policy, regional development, and sustainability transitions. Her research emphasizes the governance of public institutions and how they affect the lived realities of communities and regions. As the Strategic Research Area lead for the CFREF-funded Accelerating Community Energy Transformation Initiative, she works closely with diverse communities to facilitate development goals. In 2025-2026, she will be a Visiting Scholar at the Institute for Research on Public Policy, focusing on regional development and community transformations. Krawchenko has led research programs across a dozen countries, actively working with governments and institutions like the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development and the World Bank. She holds a PhD in Public Policy and Political Economy from Carleton University, a master's degree in Public Administration from Dalhousie University, and a bachelor's degree in History and Political Science from the same institution.
