Biography

Tamer Elfazari is an Assistant Professor and Clinician Educator in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa. He joined the department in September 2020, bringing a unique and diverse training background. Dr. Elfazari completed his residency at the University of Ottawa and pursued a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at the University of Auvergne in Clermont-Ferrand, France. His clinical focus is on tertiary level surgical gynecology, with expertise in treating uterine fibroids, pelvic masses, pelvic prolapse, endometriosis, and advanced hysteroscopic procedures. Dr. Elfazari's research interests are in surgical education, curriculum development and evaluation, the outcomes of surgical procedures, and patient safety. His patient care philosophy centers on treating patients as he would want his own family members to be treated, which he believes is key to optimal patient care. He is passionate about medical and surgical education and strives to contribute to the growing body of literature in a meaningful way through his leadership and clinical expertise in obstetrics and gynecology.
